The human body evolved to live and fight disease based on a supply of essential nutrients.

Introduction

The average diet is abundant in chemicals, calories and animal protein; and deficient in fiber, vitamins and minerals. Regular nutritional supplements could result in effective disease prevention. The majority of illnesses - ranging from acute bacterial or viral to chronic - are caused because of malnutrition. Masking the cause of symptoms, or killing microorganisms is not a long term solution. Cells reflect our food habits, and the restoration of health should be achieved through nutrition.

Nutritional Therapy

Therapy by the use of drugs lowers resistance to a disease, while therapy by the use of nutrients increases resistance to the same disease. Recovery is proportional to the dosage of nutrients or vitamins. The quantity of nutritional supplement required is a measure of the level of deficiency. Developing a solution for a disease should not be considered as the dose of vitamin to be administered, but to overcome the level of nutrient deficiency. It is important to remember that a vitamin can perform the functions of a drug, while drugs cannot act like vitamins.

Deficiency of one nutrient could result in several illnesses, which is why one nutrient can cure all of them. For example, vitamin C could be used instead of antibiotics, antipyretics, antitoxins, and antiviral drugs. Recovery is proportional to effort, and it is helpful to think about nutritional therapy to be able to practice it. Water soluble vitamins such as B and C are most effective when the doses are spread over time. It is helpful to know that food items such as brown rice, beans, and home grown fruits and vegetables cost less and have higher nutritional value than convenience foods while planning diets.

Conclusion

Nutritional therapy involves the use of non-pharmaceutical methods, fasting, near-vegetarian diet, and use of nutritional supplements.

Thank you :) There is a growing realization about preventive medicine, and I pray that more people are able to benefit from it.
